Say hello to the people behind the scenes at Writing School East Midlands
Henderson Mullin is the Chief Executive of Writing East Midlands. Before setting up WEM, Henderson worked for Index on Censorship, the campaigning NGO which publishes books and magazines in support of freedom of expression. He was a Regional Artist Advisor for Artists taking the lead, and a member of The Rhythm Writers performance collective, based in London.
Aimee Wilkinson is the Writer Development Manager for Writing East Midlands and overall Coordinator of the Writing School across Derby, Nottingham and Leicester. Aimee is a writer, experienced performer & workshop leader, and holds a First Class Honours Degree in Creative Writing. She is the creative vision behind programming our schools in Nottingham & Derby.
Clare Speller is the Administrator of our three Writing Schools in Derby, Nottingham and Leicester. Clare is a writer and film director and is on the committee of the Leicester Writers Club. Clare is your first point of contact with the Writing School – if you need to know about a course you’ve booked, she’s the one to call (please note Clare works part-time but she’ll respond to your query as soon as possible). Jacqueline Gabbitas is the Marketing Manager for Writing East Midlands and programmes the Leicester School, where she is a tutor. She is an award-winning poet, published in Poetry Review and The Forward Book of Poetry (Faber) and has appeared on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb. She is co-editor of the literary magazine Brittle Star. Her books are Mid Lands (Hearing Eye), Earthworks and Small Grass (Stonewood Press).
Heather Wright is the Finance and Admin Manager for Writing East Midlands and the Finance Manager for Writing School East Midlands. She was previously the Finance Manager for Crowdicity Ltd, a fast growing online software business and Project Manager for East Midlands NTI, a grant giving consortium of regional FE/HE institutions.
