The Writing School East Midlands bursary scheme is for low-income writers resident in the East Midlands, who would not be able to afford the standard course fees without support and paying fees would be a significant barrier for participation. We particularly welcome applications from writers from marginalised backgrounds (BAME, disabled, LGBTQ and other under-represented groups). If you are receiving a state-only pension, or in receipt of Jobseekers’ Allowance, Disability Benefits, Income Support, or Working Tax Credits, you are eligible to apply. You may also submit HMRC self-assessment paperwork to show you are low-earning if you are a freelancer and not in receipt of income support. If none of these apply but you feel you are still eligible, you may be asked to submit a signed declaration outlining your circumstances. It is a necessary requirement of our funding paperwork that we show we are serving those most in need, so there is some paperwork to fill out, however we do not wish this to be a barrier, so if at any stage you have any issues with the application process, please get in touch with Writing School East Midlands directly on email@example.com
To apply to be considered for a first come, first served bursary place, please email with a short 150 word statement about your circumstances and why you feel a bursary place would benefit your writing to firstname.lastname@example.org . Please also supply evidence you are in receipt of benefits or of limited income.
Please apply early for a bursary as places are limited.
