Narrative drive is one of the most important qualities needed to win an audience. It delivers the page-turning quality that publishers are seeking. Yet it is hard to define and seldom taught. Using discussion, short writing activities, example texts, group work and handouts, this masterclass will lay out a framework for understanding narrative drive and deliver practical tools for you to use in your writing. Whilst most of the examples we will be exploring come from novels, the techniques are equally useful in short stories and their use in film making will also be discussed.
Suitable for writers at all levels
