Are you curious about writing for theatre, but don’t know where to start? During this six-week course, led by Nottingham-based playwright Hugh Dichmont, learners will explore the foundations of dramatic writing for the stage, whilst exploring their creative voice. Each week will focus on a different aspect -theme, character, setting, structure, action and the redrafting process – plus a range of other topics including how to get inspired, and how to find your writer’s voice. Sessions will be delivered through discussion, pair work and practice, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. By week six, learners will aim to have written a ten-minute short play and have an opportunity to share their creations with the group. This course is suitable for enthusiastic beginners of all levels of experience.
